The chicken-focused quick-service restaurant (QSR) sector is booming, and the latest industry...
Emotional intelligence & philanthropy enable the restaurant business.
I have had the great pleasure of working with and knowing Mark Bucher for close to 30 years. You may know Mark as the 4-time World Burger Champion; entrepreneur-restauranteur having founded, established, and sold BGR and co-owner of Medium Rare in Washington, DC. You also may know Mark as the founder of We Care, Inc. which is better known for their Feed the Fridge™ program.
Though we started as a short-term response to the pandemic, we have realized that we play a major role in solving hunger by transforming “food insecurity” into “meal security.”
In just over a year, Feed the Fridge has increased community food supply chains by:
Placing 22 refrigerators at recreation centers, schools and other locations in Washington, D.C., Montgomery County and Prince George’s County, Maryland.
Providing more than 75,000 (as of 8/1/21) free meals to anyone who needs them.
Through donations, paying participating restaurants more than $700,000 to provide meals, which in turn helps those restaurants stay open and pay employees.
Through Mark's emotional intelligence and philanthropic efforts he is meeting two needs, one to feed the hungry while supporting the restaurant industry in a time of need.
